When the season began, “Tip” Allen took over the coaching duties as well as serving as principal of the high school.  He entered the Navy on October 13 and Davis initially assumed both duties.  Tip earned his nickname when he tipped away a Comanche kick during his playing days.  He served as Chief Specialist for Naval Reserves.
