ASSEMBLY OF GOD
The Assembly of God began as a cottage meeting in De Leon in 1920. In 1921 a brush arbor was built and later that same year the church began holding services in a tabernacle located on what is now Highway 6 just west of the electric station. The tabernacle was enclosed and the congregation began holding services there in 1925 under the guidance of A.F. Johnson of Port Aransas and Frank Anderson of Fort Worth.
On November 23, 1930 the church was formally organized with 42 charter members.
In 1936 a new rock church was built on the corner of Travis and Seguin. It was enlarged and remodeled in 1958
