De Leon’s Boy Scouts hiked all the way to Cross Plains about 1916 and are lined up in front of the Farmers National Bank in downtown Cross Plains.  R.L. Scott, publisher of the Free Press was the Scout Master and is probably the man on the right end..

SCOUTING IS FOR ALL AMERICAN BOYS

At least 20 of the 27 boys who made the hike are in this photo.  Several are very well camouflaged in the brush.  Look closely to see if you can find all 20.  The only identified participants are B.J. Pittman who is hidden above the boy on the far right; Ralph Pittman who is plainly visible in the middle of the four boys seated or kneeling in the bottom center of the photo; and Jeff Tate who is immediately to the left of the boy holding the flag.
