BRAGG HOTEL

What became the Bragg Hotel was built by Dr. R.H. Rush as a sanitarium sometime after 1900 and operated as such until at least 1905.  The hotel was located across the street from, and a little north of today’s city hall where the second building south of Reynosa stands today.

By November 1906 the building was operating as the Bragg Hotel and the photograph on the left was taken from the second floor balcony of the hotel by the William Dale family in November of that year.  What appears to be a large tree obscuring the pump house and tank is actually the limbs of the tree that is located at the end of the hotel balcony. By April 1911 the building had been removed.  It is believed that it burned.
