THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL AT NEW HOPE
This photo in May 1947 marked the last day of school at New Hope as the school did not reopen the next year but consolidated into De Leon. The event also served as a wedding shower for one of the teachers, Sara Adair who married Robert Kay. The photo was provided to De Leon’s Monitor by Neal Morris, the taller boy in overalls in the front left.

The school was also called Sabano. In 1929 John Lightfoot was beginning his 14th year as a teacher and was assisted by Enola McCharen who was starting her 4th year.
