UNITED PENTECOSTAL

De Leon’s United Pentecostal Church was organized about 1940 by Rev. A.B. Hunt with about twenty charter members.  The church was initially located on Wheat Street a block west of the present high school tract.  Hunt served as Pastor for about seven years.  In 1952 Erman Davidson became the pastor.  During his tenure, the church sold the building on Wheat Street and started holding services in what is now the Police Department on West Reynosa.    In 1954, the church purchased land on East Manchacha from Mrs. J.C. Simmons for $310.00.  The above church was constructed later that year at a cost of $7,030.00.  Davidson also constructed a home behind the church which was purchased by the church in 1958 to serve as a parsonage.
