Wayside Inn

The Wayside Inn stood at the northwest corner of Gonzales and Austin.  It was owned by Mrs. R.B. Sarah Kee who is seated on the left. It also served as a boarding house for young single men.   The Inn was later owned by Miss Willie McAfee who eventually became the second wife of J.C. Lambert, owner of the Lambert Hotel.  The photo on the left had to predate the construction of the Central Hotel ca. 1887 which was owned by the Kees.
